What's New ArchiveNew — GYTS Datasets The CDC Office on Smoking and Health’s Global Tobacco Control Program would like to announce the first public data release of the Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS). New — Sustaining State Funding for Tobacco Control The Office on Smoking and Health has identified 4 strategic priority areas. One of these priorities, “Promoting Sustainable Science-Based Comprehensive Tobacco Control Programs at the CDC-Recommended Levels” was established to focus on supporting states in their efforts to preserve tobacco control funding in the face of serious state budget challenges. MMWR—Cigarette Use Among High School Students—United States, 1991–2003A study published in the June 18 issue of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) journal, Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, reports that the rate of cigarette smoking among U.S. high school students has declined dramatically since the late 1990s and is at the lowest level since the national Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) was initiated in 1991.
