Hepatic porphyria is an abnormal increase in pigments or colorings (porphyrins) made in the liver. Signs include abnormal sensitivity to light and pain in the abdomen. This is a hereditary disorder that usually usually develops after hepatitis, heavy metal poisoning, and certain anemias.
