Technical Service Provider AssistanceNRCS Seeks Cost Data from Technical Service Providers by March 30NRCS is seeking information on current market prices for conservation
technical work performed by technical service providers. NRCS will collect the
cost data through March 30. The collected information will help NRCS establish
payment rates for conservation technical services such as conservation planning
and the design, layout, installation and review of approved conservation
practices. NRCS Technical Service Provider Registry Available on March 1 Summit: “Expanding the Capabilities of Conservation Service on Private Lands”Secretary of Agriculture Ann M. Veneman opened the Technical Service Provider Summit on November 7, 2002, at the USDA headquarters complex in Washington, D.C. The U.S. Department of Agriculture is implementing the Technical Service Provider process outlined in the 2002 Farm Bill. Prospective providers, users of provider services, and members of the public attended in person, via the Internet, satellite broadcast and telephone. The morning session, featured Secretary of Agriculture Ann M. Veneman, Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Jim Moseley, NRCS Chief Bruce Knight, and Farm Service Agency (FSA) Administrator Jim Little. Panels of prospective technical service provider recipients and prospective private sector and public sector providers commented on the proposed process. Listening sessions in the afternoon gave the audience and callers the opportunity to present comments to NRCS and FSA leadership.
