WASHINGTON, D.C. – Administrator Stephen A. Perry of the U.S. General Services Administration today announced his selection of Brooklyn native Eileen Long-Chelales as the agency’s Northeast & Caribbean Regional Administrator. She succeeds former Regional Administrator Karl H. Reichelt who joined GSA in April 2002 and is now GSA's Chief of Staff based in Washington, D.C. Ms. Long-Chelales’ position is effective today.

"We are pleased Eileen is joining our senior management team as the Regional Administrator for the Northeast and Caribbean Region," said GSA Administrator Stephen A. Perry. "Eileen brings a wealth of experience from her service in New York State government, making her an excellent choice for this important post."

In her role as principal executive of the region, Ms. Long-Chelales will head a GSA workforce of 750 employees across New Jersey, New York, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. GSA’s Northeast & Caribbean Region has an annual operating budget estimated at $1.9 billion and a real estate portfolio that includes 83 government-owned buildings and leased space in 432 commercial buildings. 

Most recently, Ms. Long-Chelales served as Deputy Secretary for Administration & Operations in the Office of Governor George E. Pataki, a position she held for over two years.  Prior to 2002, Ms. Long-Chelales served as the Chief of Staff to New York Lieutenant Governor Mary O. Donohue.

Ms. Long-Chelales is a graduate of St. Francis College in Brooklyn Heights, NY. She holds a bachelor’s degree in history. Ms. Long-Chelales and her husband, Joseph, reside in Brooklyn, NY.
