The prosecutor may need to obtain documentary evidence,
interview a
witness, conduct depositions, serve a subpoena, freeze a bank
account, seek a
search warrant, or perform other investigative or prosecutive
tasks. The needs
of the prosecutor will dictate the method chosen. Some tasks may
best be
accomplished by informal means while others can only be done by a
formal
approach. (The types of assistance mentioned above are not meant
to be
inclusive. Note, though, that not all of the above tasks can be
performed in
every case.)
