[D] Figure 2 uses two maps to compare the Belair Road clinic service area with the federally assigned medically underserved area. The collection of census block groups that capture 60 percent of the clinic's users, and therefore designates its service area, overlaps substantially (estimated at more than 80 percent) with the medically underserved area. This demonstrates how mapping of clinical service areas based on actual patients can be used to evaluate whether health centers, or other safety net providers, are serving target populations and, perhaps where they can investigate gaps in serving them.

Note: Service area is divided by Census Block Groups; MUA is aggregated up to Census Tracts.
