The following table displays estimates of the number of minutes required to download the OES ZIP files for two common kinds of connections. The download time of a file is dependent on the connection speed.  Download times can vary depending on network traffic.

File Types

The above ZIP files contain Excel spreadsheets. A ZIP file utility is necessary to extract the files. How to view ZIP files

At the top of each spreadsheet is a description of the column labels. Opening the files in earlier versions of Excel or in other spreadsheet programs may cause the data to be truncated.

National Occupational Employment and Wage Estimates by Industry

In addition to the occupational employment and wage estimates that can be downloaded above, annual estimates from 1988 to 1997 are available by request for most 2- and 3-digit Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) industry groups. Note:

  • Estimates for 1988 - 1995 contain only occupational employment estimates
  • Estimates for 1997 - 1998 contain occupational employment and wage estimates
  • Estimates for 1988 - 1995 are for different industries each year, with each industry being surveyed only once every three years
  • Estimates for 1996 are not available
