Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) Highlights - October 2004


Food Stamp EBT Systems - total 54

Operational food stamp EBT systems use either on-line, magnetic stripe cards or off-line, microprocessor chip cards. (The count includes the on-line system in Puerto Rico for the block-grant Nutrition Assistance Program.) 

  • On-line Systems-52: Forty-eight States, the District of Columbia, Virgin Islands, Guam and Puerto Rico have on-line food stamp EBT systems.

  • Off-line Systems-2: Two states have off-line food stamp EBT systems:

Ohio - FSP Statewide, WIC pilot only
Wyoming - FSP Statewide; WIC Statewide
