The main part of the memorial remains open 24 hours a day. The Interpretive Ranger staff, are on site from 8am to 11:45pm daily except Christmas Day. The Bookstore opens from 8 am to 5 pm. All restroom facilities close at 11:30 pm.

Getting There

Plane
Three major airports link Washington, D.C. with the rest of the country and the world. Ronald Reagan National Airport, Washingotn Dulles International Airport, and Baltimore-Washington Airport all have limousine, cab, or Metro services available that will connect with the National Mall.

Car
Interstates 66 and 395 provide access to the Mall from the south. Interstate 495, New York Avenue, Rock Creek Parkway, George Washington Memorial Parkway, and the Cabin John Parkway provide access from the North. Interstate 66, U.S. Route 50 and 29 provide access from the West. U.S. Routes 50, 1, and 4 provide access from the East.

Public Transportation
There are several Metro train routes from the suburban areas surrounding the city. The Smithsonian Metro station is the nearest stop to the FDR Memorial. It is located on the corner of 12th street and Independence Ave.

Getting Around

Parking: Cars: Parking for the FDR Memorial is located directly in front on West Basin Drive. Buses: Parking for Buses is located on Ohio Drive near the FDR Memorial, bus drop off points are located near the front entrance to the memorial on West Basin Drive. SHUTTLE TOUR: Tourmobile Sightseeing offers narrated shuttle tours daily to 18 major sites on the National Mall and in Arlington National Cemetery. One ticket allows unlimited free reboarding throughout the day. You will find boarding locations throughout the National Mall, at the major monuments and memorials, and at the Arlington National Cemetery Visitor Center.
