Furniture Department of the Army UPH Furniture Program

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers requested the support of GSA's National Furniture Center in furnishing unaccompanied personnel housing (UPH). GSA agreed that a program could be set up to the Corps' requirements.

The Corps' goals included using the GSA multiple award schedule program to provide a variety of product styles and sources while ensuring the quality and performance of the furniture used in the housing. The National Furniture Center worked with the Corps' Huntsville Center to establish a process for identifying products that met the Corps' standards. It was decided that the program could be set-up within the GSA schedule for household and quarters furniture, FSC 71 Part II. The National Furniture Center worked with Huntsville to establish the technical requirements for the furniture.Vendors would be invited to submit information on their contract items to demonstrate compliance with the Corps' requirements and the National Furniture Center would review the product lines. With the requirements established and the invitation issued, the Department of the Army UPH Furniture Program began.

Since that time, the National Furniture Center has reviewed the vendors' product offerings and has developed a listing of those vendors and product lines that were found to meet the UPH furniture standard. The listing is published electronically as the Approved Product Lines for the Army UPH Furniture Program. A link to the current listing is provided for viewing or printing.
