Bladder infections in men
Question What are the symptoms of bladder infection in men?

No name  /  No state given
Answer

Bladder infection (cystitis) causes similar signs and symptoms in both men and women. These include:

  • Frequent urination (frequency)
  • Strong, persistent urge to urinate (urgency)
  • Burning sensation when urinating (dysuria)
  • Low-grade fever
  • Cloudy urine with a strong odor
  • Blood in the urine (hematuria)

Bladder infections are much less common in men than in women. This is because men have a longer urethra, which makes it more difficult for bacteria to reach the bladder and cause infection. Your doctor may confirm a bladder infection by means of a urine test. Treatment is with antibiotics depending on the cause.
