In 2004 approximately 100 entries were received for the second annual competition. A panel of 6 judges with backgrounds in science journalism, science documentary production, medical illustration, and computer animation pored over 50 finalist entries to determine the winners.

The 2004 Science and Engineering Visualization Challenge winners can also be seen on www.sciencemag.org/sciext/vis2004 as well as a slide show that showcases the winners at www.sciencemag.org/sciext/vis2004/show/

Beginning October 11th, 2004, a special program highlighting the 2003 and 2004 winners will air on the ResearchChannel.
