Air Force selects 566 new chief master sergeants
11/4/2004 - RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas (AFPN) -- Air Force officials recently selected 566 senior master sergeants for promotion to the service's highest enlisted rank as part of the 2004 chief master sergeant evaluation board.
They will release the promotion list Nov. 10 at 8 a.m. CST. The complete list of selectees will be posted Nov. 12 on the Air Force Personnel Center Web page at www.afpc.randolph.af.mil/eprom/.
"Promotion to chief remains extremely competitive," said Chief Master Sgt. Dale Kenney, chief of enlisted promotions and military testing branch at the center here. "Those selected for promotion have clearly demonstrated the potential to serve as chief master sergeants in today's Air Force."
The board, which considered 2,688 senior master sergeants, selected 21.06 percent. Last year's selection rate was 19.86 percent.
The average score for those selected was 662.55, with an average time in grade and time in service of 3.41 and 22.49 years respectively. The average score was based on the following point averages:
-- 135 for enlisted performance reports.
-- 26.97 for time in grade.
--23.17 for time in service.
-- 23.84 for decorations.
-- 71.58 for the Air Force supervisory examination.
-- 381.98 for the promotion board score.
The chief master sergeant evaluation board convened here Oct. 12 to 22 to evaluate individual records of senior master sergeants eligible for promotion.
