African American Institutions". The cooperative agreement is an umbrella

member schools to Federal agencies and independent/private sector sources.
This cooperative agreement addresses the performance of executive
agency actions under Executive Order 12876, to advance the development of
human potential, to strengthen the capacity of Historically Black Colleges
and Universities (HBCUs), to provide quality education, and to increase
opportunities to participate in and benefit from Federal programs. The
agreement also addresses the objectives listed in "Healthy People 2010".
The purpose of the program is to provide support for professional
education, research and community service that promotes optimum health
among poor and minority people. It does this by engaging the collaborative
resources, scholarship and technology for minority health professions
schools.
Specifically, the program is intended to assist the members schools
to:
|
Promote and support research that contributes to the
Advancement of Knowledge and Treatment of Diseases, Disabilities and
Adverse Health Problems that Disproportionately or Differentially
Affect Minority Populations; |
|
Support Efforts that Improve the Quality and
Availability of Health Care to All Other Minorities and Under-Served
Populations; |
|
Further Public Education to Prevent Health Problems
and Promote Healthy Lifestyles Among all Minorities and Under-Served
Populations; |
|
