Turning Point for Families (TPFF)
Ke Ala Lokahi Project

on Wednesday, April 30th, 2003, 10:00-11:00am
at CDC's Koger Center in Atlanta, Georgia

Turning Point for Families (TPFF), Ke Ala Lokahi, is one of ten federally funded demonstration projects designed to prevent intimate partner violence and sexual violence among various racial and ethnic populations.  Ke Ala Lokahi, translated from Hawaiian as “The Pathway to Harmony” is an intimate partner and sexual violence intervention using Native Hawaiian values, beliefs, and traditions with Hawaiian male abusers and Hawaiian battered women. This behavioral intervention proposes to explore the efficacy of using a Hawaiian cultural approach to reduce sexual and intimate partner violence through increasing knowledge, values, beliefs, and positive attitudes about Native Hawaiian culture, including male and female gender role expectations.
