NSF/EPA Workshop to Explore Environmental Compliance
by Industries
The National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) will host a workshop on June
4 in Washington, DC highlighting research that examines
economic and other motivations for companies to go
beyond environmental compliance requirements.
The one-day event brings together researchers who study
voluntary environmental compliance, NSF and EPA officials
and the public. The morning session focuses on the
self-regulation of environmental behavior, and the
afternoon session addresses overcompliance with environmental
regulation.
The workshop is jointly sponsored by EPA's National
Center for Environmental Research and NSF's Decision,
Risk and Management Science Program.
