MEDIA AVAILABILITY WITH SCIENCE BOARD CHAIR
National Science Board (NSB) Chairman Eamon Kelly will be available
on Monday, April 26, to discuss any current and topical issues related
to the NSB.
Kelly is an internationally known economist and President Emeritus,
Tulane University. He assumed the NSB chair last May. Kelly is currently
a professor at Tulane's Payson Center for International Development and
Technology Transfer. He also held leadership positions at Ford Foundation
in New York for 10 years, managing its national and international investment
program and its domestic grant program.
The NSB is the governing body of the National Science Foundation, and
is made up of 24 top representatives from industry
and academia. Members are appointed by the President, confirmed by the
Senate and serve six-year
terms. Within the past few years, the NSB has published
papers or reports on a variety of topics including education (both graduate
and K-12), industry
research trends, and government funding of research.
(Note: The next meeting of the NSB will take place May 5-7 at the National
Science Foundation.)
