As part of the NLM reinvention effort under the National Performance Review, NLM implemented Voyager, developed by Endeavor Information Systems, Inc. as the library's integrated library system. In 1998, Voyager replaced a number of internal-custom-built systems developed at NLM. The Voyager ILS supports basic library functions, including cataloging.

Voyager is a fully integrated system that combines open system architecture and relational database technology.
