Security Procedures for On-site Researchers at NLM

The Library revised its security procedures in September 2001, changing the way researchers access the Library. Library researchers:

• - must enter the Library through the main entrance (mobility-impaired researchers may use the ramped entrance on the side of the building)
  
  
• - must sign in at the guard stations and provide valid picture identification (driver's license, passport, NLM library card, etc.)

Effective April 1, 2004 all NLM staff, patrons and visitors will be required to allow the NLM guards to perform a physical inspection of all bags, briefcases, packages, and handbags as they exit Building 38.

• - bags and packages of all sizes are to be inspected, including handbags
  
  
• - inspection exit points include the Main Entrance, the North Loading Dock, and the Guard Station between Buildings 38 and 38A
