USGS 01105870 JONES RIVER AT KINGSTON, MA

 

PROVISIONAL DATA SUBJECT TO REVISION

 
 
  LOCATION

LOCATION.--Lat 41o59'27", long 70o44'03", Plymouth County, Hydrologic Unit 01090002, on left bank 100 ft downstream from Elm Street Bridge at Kingston and 2.8 mi upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA.--15.7 mi2, excludes 4.09 mi2 above outlet of Silver Lake, from which flow is diverted for municipal supply of Brockton, Whitman, and Hanson.
PERIOD OF RECORD.--August 1966 to current year.
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder with satellite telemeter. Datum of gage is 4.76 ft above sea level (levels by Massachusetts Department of Public Works).
REMARKS.--Records good. Flow regulated by pond upstream. Flow affected at times by wastage from Silver Lake. Surface flow may be affected by ground water that enters from or moves into adjacent basins. Occasional backwater from tidal surge.
