USGS 01171500 MILL RIVER AT NORTHAMPTON, MA

  LOCATION

LOCATION.--Lat 42o19'08", long 72o39'55", Hampshire County, Hydrologic Unit 01080201, on left bank at Clements Street bridge, 4.5 mi upstream from mouth, near Northampton, MA.
DRAINAGE AREA.--54.0 mi2.
PERIOD OF RECORD.--October 1938 to current year.
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder. Satellite telemeter installed Nov. 7, 2001. Prior to Nov. 7, 2001, at site 1.0 mi downstream at different datum.
REMARKS.--Records good. Occasional regulation by mills upstream. Gage relocated Nov. 7, 2001 for improved measuring conditions as compared to previous location and for the ability to provide near-real-time data.
COOPERATION BY.-- Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, Office of Water Resources and Department of Environmental Protection, Office of Watershed Management.
