FAQ
LocatorPlus Records Contain the 95x Field Tag
Question: Why does NLM have the 950 (95x) subject heading field tags in its LocatorPlus records?
Answer:
- - the field tag 95x identifies a subject heading in imported records not assigned by NLM
- - all 65x subject headings in imported records are changed to 95x so that they are not indexed with MeSH descriptors assigned by NLM. This includes MeSH descriptors assigned to a title by a library other than NLM and Library of Congress subject headings (LCSH)
- - NLM does not change or evaluate MeSH descriptors in imported records
- - when NLM exports records with 95x subject heading field tags a program changes the 95x to 65x
