Downloading NLM Bibliographic Records in MARC 21 Format
Question: How do I download NLM bibliographic records in MARC 21 format from LocatorPlus?
Answer:
- - Search for and mark the records you want in LocatorPlus at http://locatorplus.gov/

- Find the "Save Options" box at the bottom of the screen. Use the "Select Download Format" drop-down menu to select the MARC 21 format desired. The options are:
- - Latin1, which provides a MARC-formatted record utilizing the ASCII character set, including the common diacritics that often occur in languages that employ the "Latin" alphabet
- - Raw MARC, which provides a MARC-formatted record inclusive of special characters
- - Click on the Print/Save icon to the right.
- - Use your browser's Save As command to save the file. If using Internet Explorer, change the "Save as Type" to "Text File" before saving.
- - Use the MARC record import functionality of your local integrated library system to load the records into your local database.
