Promotion

The Promotion Program Area is responsible for outreach efforts designed to increase awareness and usage of NLM's online products and services. The objectives are achieved through joint marketing agreements with information product vendors and through collaborative efforts with medical associations, all types of libraries, the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, other government agencies, and private industry.

Various tools are used to achieve these objectives. These include the use of direct mail, teleconferencing, telemarketing, production of brochures and posters, booth design, writing Public Relations pieces for publications, questionnaires, arranging speakers and training for national meetings, and procurement of promotional products.

A direct byproduct of these outreach efforts is to provide feedback on customer needs, evaluation of NLM's products, and industry trends in the use of online information.
