Frequently Asked Questions

QUESTION: Where can I access employers who have had successful experiences hiring people with disabilities?

ANSWER: The U. S. Chamber of Commerce has established a national Business Leadership Network (BLN). Thirty-four states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico have initiated BLNs in one or more areas of the state or territory. These are peer groups of employers who have successful experience hiring people with disabilities. The BLNs provide an opportunity for employers to identify and share best practices on the employment of people with disabilities. ODEP endorses the BLN concept of business-to-business mentoring to help create job opportunities for people with disabilities.

Other sources for information about successful employment practices are committees, councils, or commissions on employment of people with disabilities in each state. Contact information for your state can be found on the State Liaisons section of the ODEP web site.
