National Advisory Committee on Meat and Poultry Inspection To Hold Public Meeting

WASHINGTON, Nov. 2, 2004 - The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today that the
National Advisory Committee on Meat and Poultry Inspection (NACMPI) will hold public meetings on Nov. 16 and 17, 2004.
NACMPI will divide into three subcommittees on Nov. 16 to work on the issues discussed during the full committee meeting.
The full committee will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 16 and 17 at the Hilton Alexandria Old Town, 1767 King Street
Alexandria, Va. 22314. Subcommittees will hold public meetings on Tuesday, Nov. 16 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Agenda items for
the full committee meeting include: the FSIS Technical Service Center, joint training and outreach and data integration. A
meeting agenda is available at http://www.fsis.usda.gov/About_FSIS/NACMPI/.
The NACMPI was established in 1971 to provide advice and recommendations to the Secretary of Agriculture regarding meat and
poultry inspection programs. The committee, which generally meets at least twice a year, addresses food safety concerns and
policy issues affecting USDA.
Comments on the topics scheduled for discussion at the public meeting should be submitted to the FSIS Docket Room, Docket
#04-038N, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food Safety and Inspection Service, Room 102 Cotton Annex, 300 12th Street, SW,
Washington, DC 20250-3700. Comments can also be submitted online at http://www.regulations.gov.
All submissions must include the Agency name and Docket #04-038N. Comments submitted will be available for public inspection
in the FSIS Docket Room between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. All comments will be posted at
http://www.fsis.usda.gov/regulations_&_policies/ 2004_Notices_Index/.
