Geographic Information Services
The Geographic Information Services (GIS) office at the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) is a national resource for transportation spatial data and analysis. GIS enhancement allows planners and others to visualize large quantities of transportation data, often rendering it more meaningful. GIS helps highlight the transportation system's reach, coverage, modal relationships, key corridors, and relationship to our nation's economic activity and environment.
Activities
Mapping Center
The Mapping Center provides mapping and data download applications you can use to geographically analyze and retrieve data in the TranStats Data Library and provides access, through a map based download interface, to all transportation geospatial data collected and maintained by the DOT.
Geospatial One-Stop
The Geospatial One-Stop is a Federal government E-Gov initiative that will create, among other things, an Internet portal for data discovery and exchange. The components of the portal will be based on standards developed for the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) Themes and the Open GIS Consortium (OGC) web services.
Map Gallery
The Map Gallery showcases the latest GIS maps generated by BTS.
