DOE CFC web site
October 1, 2004
I am pleased to announce that Secretary Abraham has asked me to serve as his Vice Chairman for the 2004 Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). I am a great supporter of the CFC and look forward to maintaining the Department of Energy’s proud tradition of being among the top Federal agencies in terms of total donations and average size of donations.
The Secretary and I are confident that this year’s campaign will be successful, but we need your assistance.
Last year, the Federal employees of the Department of Energy generously donated $912,883 to the 2003 Combined Federal Campaign. This represented 63% of the Department’s employees who contributed to the CFC, a remarkable percentage. All of us are grateful for the generosity of our colleagues in the 2003 CFC.
This year, we are hoping to boost the individual participation in the CFC by 2% and dollar contributions by at least 5%.
The CFC enables employees to contribute in a variety of ways, including payroll deduction and direct contribution. You may contribute to a broad selection of charities, elaborated upon in the 2004 Catalog of Caring.
I hope you will find this an exciting opportunity for 2004, and I want to thank you in advance for your support and commitment to what is going to be an outstanding campaign.
The Department of Energy has an excellent track record in meeting, even exceeding its CFC goals year after year. But it is not just about numbers. More importantly, through our charitable giving, we are able to bring hope and help to those in need. I know I can count on your enthusiasm and involvement to have another great year.
