Collaboration

Since the beginning of this project 1999, DHHS agencies have played critical roles in planning and coordinating policy initiatives. Partners within HHS include the Office of the Secretary, the Office of Minority Health (OMH), the Health Resource and Services Administration (HRSA), and the Administration on Aging (AoA). In a monumental show of collaboration the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NCMHD) contributes $5 million annually to support REACH 2010 projects.

Having become a visible and tangible sign of DHHS' commitment to eliminate health disparities among racial and ethic minority populations, REACH 2010 has attracted national attention. Both public and private agencies have expressed interest in supporting or participating in the REACH 2010 program. For example, the California Endowment (CE) through the CDC Foundation, supports the implementation and evaluation of two California coalitions located in San Diego and Garden Grove, addressing disparities in breast and cervical cancer, and cardiovascular health.
