     whole Province of Maryland with Part of Pensilvania, [sic]
     New Jersey, and North Carolina. Drawn by Joshua Fry & Peter
     Jefferson in 1775 . . . Publish'd 12th May 1794, by Laurie &
     Whittle.

26. States (colonies) in color. County names, towns, roads, and
physical features. Bears inscription, "To the Right Honourable,
George Dunk, Earl of Halifax, First Lord Commissioner; and to the

Trade and Plantations. This Map is most humbly Inscribed to their
Lordship's, By their Lordships' Most Obedient & most devoted

factories, iron works, academies and colleges, churches, roads
(stage, turnpike, common), ferries, courthouses, "places
remarkable for military incidents," and physical features.
Virginia includes present State of West Virginia. Map also
includes Maryland, Delaware, and parts of Pennsylvania, New
Jersey, Tennessee, and North Carolina. Tables list steamboat
routes, altitudes of mountains, and population (of "whites,
slaves, free blacks") of State in 1790, 1800, 1810, and 1859.

Virginia. Names and boundaries of counties. Counties shaded
according to slave population, with those counties having the
lowest slave populations left unshaded. Tables list additional
population information. Map "Sold for the benefit of the sick and
wounded of the U.S. Army." Note in lower right corner states
"Presented to Lt. Col. Bache, Corps Topogl Engineers, by his
