All park grounds are closed at sunset. The Jamestown Entrance Station is open daily, throughout the year from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and the visitor contact station from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily; Jamestown is closed December 25 and New Years Day. Yorktown Visitor Center: Opened daily 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; closed December 25 and New Years Day.

Getting There

Plane
To Park: From Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport (20 minutes from Yorktown), Norfolk International Airport (one hour east) and Richmond International Airport (one hour west) provide commercial air service.

Car
Colonial National Historical Park is located a short distance from Interstate 64 (I-64). Eastbound from the Richmond area via I-64, take Route 199, exit 242A for Jamestown or exit 242B for Yorktown, to the Colonial Parkway. Follow the parkway to its end. West bound Interstate 64 from the Virginia Beach/Norfolk/Hampton area for Yorktown should take Route 105 East (Fort Eustis Boulevard east), exit 250B to Route 17 (George Washington Memorial Highway). Turn left (North) onto Route 17. Follow the signs to the Yorktown Battlefield. Westbound Interstate 64 for Jamestown should take Route 199, exit 242A, to the Colonial Parkway following it to its end.

In Park: personal vehicles, bicycles (on paved surfaces only) and on foot. The Colonial Parkway (23 miles) connects the Yorktown and Jamestown units of the park

Bus
Shuttle bus service to Historic Jamestowne and Yorktown Battlefield is available from the Colonial Williamsburg Visitor Center during the summer vacation season. The Historic Triangle Shuttle will operate daily between May 28 and September 6, 2004, and is a free service. Boarding passes are required, however, and may be obtained at the Colonial Williamsburg Visitor Center.

Public Transportation
AMTRAK has stations in Newport News and Williamsburg. Greyhound has commercial bus service to Newport News and Williamsburg. Rental cars and taxi service are available from all of these locations.

Getting Around

Jamestown - The Jamestown Area Shuttle provides loop service around the Jamestown area, with continuous service between Historic Jamestowne, the Jamestown Settlement and the Jamestown Glasshouse (part of Historic Jamestowne). Service is available daily through September 6, 2004

Yorktown - The Yorktown Trolley provides service between the Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center and the Yorktown Victory Center, as well as several stops between in the historic village. Service is available daily through September 6 and weekends until the end of October.
