  1. About Hernia Repair (Copyright © ACS) - A hernia occurs when a small sac containing tissue protrudes through an opening in the muscles of the abdominal wall. This booklet explains why you may need to have a hernia repaired, the ways in which a hernia can be corrected surgically, and what to expect before and after the operation.

  2. Federal resource  Age Page: Urinary Incontinence - This publication describes the types of urinary incontinence, diagnosis, treatment and management. It also provides a list of additional resources.

  3. Federal resource  Alzheimer's Disease Fact Sheet - This fact sheet discusses how Alzheimer's disease is not a normal part of aging. It describes the symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and care for those with Alzheimer's disease.

  4. Federal resource  Exercise: A Guide from the National Institute on Aging - This 80-page illustrated booklet provides healthy older people with scientifically accurate recommendations about exercise.

  5. It also includes various treatment options available, such as minoxidil, surgery, hair pieces.

  7. Federal resource  Osteoporosis in Men - After age 50, six percent of all men will suffer a hip fracture as a result of osteoporosis. Despite these compelling figures, a majority of American men view osteoporosis solely as a "woman's disease." This fact sheet discusses the issue of osteoporosis in men, and explains the known causes, how osteoporosis is diagnosed in men, what treatments are available, and how it can be prevented.
