Environmental Streamlining
Nevada's ReTRAC.info: Real-time Project Compliance Information on the Web

In its early stages, the Reno Transportation Rail Access Corridor (ReTRAC) was hotly contested. Controversy focused on the fiscal viability and potential environmental impacts of depressing a 2.3-mile section of railroad track that runs through downtown Reno, Nevada. But the City of Reno has alleviated public concern with ReTRAC.info. This interactive tool integrates wireless technology, information management software, and the Internet to gather data, compile reports, and share project status among all stakeholders. Providing the public with access to real-time information on project compliance helps the City and Nevada DOT demonstrate that they are concerned and effective environmental stewards. Moreover, ReTRAC.info has streamlined work processes and conserved financial resources. Find out more in the October issue of "Successes in Streamlining".
