Configuring your web browser
to access spreadsheet files

On this web site, many data tables are available in spreadsheet format (Excel .XLS or Lotus .WKS) and can be loaded directly into a spreadsheet program. To launch a spreadsheet program when you select a table, you must first configure your browser to recognize .XLS and .WKS files. This is done through the "Helper Applications" feature of most browsers. In many cases, this feature is incorporated into the Preferences... menu under Edit....

More detailed information is available for configuring the following browsers:

bulletNetscape
bulletMicrosoft Internet Explorer
bulletNCSA Mosaic
