Dermatitis is an inflammation of your skin that usually involves swollen, red and itchy skin. Also called eczema, dermatitis can have many causes and occur in many forms. Sometimes, the open sores and fissures that can occur with dermatitis can become infected. Dermatitis primarily involves the top layer of your skin (epidermis).
