U.S. - Mexico Tribal Border Infrastructure Grant Program


US Flag EPA's 1996 and subsequent Congressional appropriations bills designated funds for infrastructure projects within 100 kilometers (approximately 62 miles) of the U.S.-Mexico Border. The appropriations language stated that funding would cover: Mexican Flag

"...architectural, engineering, planning, design, construction and related activities in connection with the construction of high priority water and wastewater facilities in the area of the United States-Mexico Border, after consultation with the appropriate border commission;"

Approximately $27 million has been set aside by EPA Region 9 to address high priority drinking water and wastewater projects on Tribal lands. To date, 25 projects have been identified for funding. If you would like more information, please contact:
