The school will be targeted at those with little or no previous experience with neutron inelastic scattering methods.
Most of the time will be spent conducting hands-on experiments
using the following instruments:
the
disk chopper time-of-flight spectrometer (DCS),
the
filter analyzer spectrometer (FANS),
the
high flux backscattering spectrometer (HFBS),
the
neutron spin echo spectrometer (NSE) and
the
spin polarized inelastic neutron scattering spectrometer (SPINS).
The school will take place at the NIST Center for Neutron Research (NCNR), which is part of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, MD.
The Summer School will be sponsored in part by the
National Science Foundation,
and limited support for graduate students, postdocs and junior faculty
from North American institutions will be available.
Attendance will be limited to 32 participants. Early application is
encouraged.
