Alternatives to Traditional Transportation Fuels 1998Alternative Fueled Vehicles in use 1998, survey data (Tables 20-24). These tables represent the number of reported onroad alternative-fueled vehicles in use for Federal (Tables 20-21), State (Table 22), and Fuel Providers (Table 23). Additionally, the number of onroad alternative-fueled buses in use for 1998 are presented in Table 24. The source for these data is the Form EIA-886 "Alternative Transportation Fuels and Alternative Fueled Vehicles Annual Survey." Tables 20-24 are being presented for the first time since the form was updated. The total number of vehicles in use as reported in the survey are different from those presented in the estimates of alternative-fueled vehicles in use. Data presented in Tables 1-9 represent the total population of vehicle users and are based on an established estimating methodology. The survey data (Tables 20-23) include only the selected user groups as described above. For example, Local Governments and private companies other than fuel providers are not covered in Tables 20-23. However, Tables 20-24 show more detailed data than Tables 1-9.
