The November 9, 2001, issue of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) contains a report entitled, "State Medicaid Coverage for Tobacco Dependence Treatments — United States, 1998 and 2000." The University of California, Berkeley, and the CDC, report an increase in the number of states that are offering Medicaid enrollees some coverage for smoking cessation programs.
