Background on the Documents that Appear on this Web Site

The Council for Tobacco Research states that documents on this site were released October 23, 1998, and that documents in smoking and health actions will be added to through June 30, 2010.

Searching for Documents

This site allows you to search various fields by entering search terms in the box beside the field you wish to search on.

To search for documents:

• Click BEGIN SEARCH at the bottom of the home page. A page with disclaimers will appear.
  
  
• Click I AGREE at the bottom of the page to begin searching.
  
  
• Type a term, such as addiction, in the box next to the field you wish to search and click the search button. For example, if you type addiction in the box next to Document Title, a list of document titles containing addiction will appear.
  
  
• Click the Item Number or the Bates Number to retrieve the document.
  
  
• Choose either VIEW DOCUMENT IMAGES or VIEW/PRINT ALL PAGES.

If you choose VIEW DOCUMENT IMAGES, use the PRIOR and NEXT buttons located at the top of the page to navigate through the document.

Each field also contains a search assistant button. Click this button to see a list of possible search terms for this field and associated documents.

Difficulties with this Web Site

The search assistant buttons do not provide helpful searching hints. You cannot search the full text.
