The Tobacco Institute Document Site

This Web site contains documents released by The Tobacco Institute in the Minnesota litigation and reimbursement lawsuits brought by the States Attorneys General in smoking and health actions. The site provides images of documents that may be viewed a page at a time, or all pages at once.

Background on the Documents that Appear on this Web Site

The Tobacco Institute states that the documents on this site were released October 23, 1998, and that documents in smoking and health actions will be added through June 30, 2010.

Searching for Documents

This site uses a search engine that allows you to either search all fields or specify the field to search. You may conduct simple searches or more advanced searches by using Boolean operators. For further explanations, please review Search Tips.

To search for a term in all fields:

Type the search term, such as addiction in the search box on the Welcome screen.
Click SEARCH. A page with disclaimers will appear.
Click PROCEED WITH SEARCH at the bottom of the page to begin searching. A list of search results will appear.
Click the document ID number of the document you wish to view.

To search on a specific field:

Type in the field name abbreviation followed by the search term. For example, if you wish to search for all titles containing addiction, type Title:addiction in the search box of the welcome screen. If you want to search for all documents listing Smith as the author, type Author:Smith.
