Sammy Sosa — Sports and Tobacco Don't Mix — Be a Winner, Work hard... Be Tobacco Free

This new CDC Tobacco-Free Sports bilingual poster features Chicago Cubs outfielder and superstar slugger Sammy Sosa. It sends a strong message to young people that to reach the top of your game, it takes hard work — tobacco use is not part of the formula.

In addition to CDC and the Department of Health and Human Services, other partners for this new campaign include the Pan American World Health Organization, the National Institutes for Health, the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers' Association, Oral Health America's National Spit Tobacco Education Program, the National Athletic Trainers' Association's Research and Education Foundation, the Chicago Cubs, and Major League Baseball.

Gotta WANT it to WIN it — Women's United Soccer Association and the American Legacy Foundation.

The former Women's United Soccer League (WUSA) led the country as the first professional sports league to emphasize the importance of a healthy and tobacco-free lifestyle by implementing a leaguewide policy to ban tobacco-use at their games and promote good health.

This action-oriented poster was developed during the WUSA's 2002–2003 seasons by the American Legacy Foundation with support from the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids and the CDC's Office on Smoking and Health. It emphasizes the Tobacco-Free message, and while supplies last, it is available at no charge through CDC. — Poster
