Global School Personnel Survey

World Health Organization/Tobacco Free Initiative
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/Office on Smoking and Health

Purpose: To collect information from school personnel concerning their use of tobacco and their tobacco related school policies and programs.

Methodology:

  • All schools selected for GYTS eligible
  • All school personnel eligible
  • Confidential self-administered questionnaire
  • GSPS questionnaire distributed to personnel. Personnel return documents upon completion - 1-2 days.

GSPS Core Questionnaire Components:

  • Demographics
  • Prevalence
  • Knowledge and attitudes
  • School policy
  • School curriculum

Countries currently participating:

  • India (Bihar, Maharashtra, Mumbai, Nagaland, Manipur, Arunchal Pradesh, Bihar Central, Meghalay, Assam and West Bengal) 
  • Gaza Strip, North West Bank, Mid West Bank, South West Bank 
  • Uruguay (Colonia, Maldonado, Montevideo, Rivera)
  • Nepal  
  • Sudan
  • Tunisia
