EPA Administrator Leavitt Celebrates World Water Monitoring Day at Smithsonian Environmental Research CenterContact: Cathy Milbourn 202-564-7824 / milbourn.cathy@epa.gov (Washington, D.C.–October 15, 2004) EPA Administrator Mike Leavitt will join Alan Neuchatz, Acting Deputy Assistant Administrator, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, John F. Turner, Department of State Assistant Secretary, and Roberta Savage, America’s Clean Water Foundation President and CEO, as the featured speakers at the Second Annual Celebration of World Water Monitoring Day. The event will start at 9 a.m. at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC) facilities on the Chesapeake Bay in Edgewater, Maryland. The activities at this event include exploring the Rhode River on one of the Center’s research vessels and sampling fish and invertebrates from surrounding waters.
