The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Prevention Information Network (NPIN) develops, identifies, and collects information on the prevention, treatment, and
control of HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), and tuberculosis (TB), and
makes this information available to healthcare providers, patients, grassroots community
organizations, and organizations working in prevention, research, and support services. NPIN offers a variety of services. NPIN provides reference and referrals to public and private
resources; offers access to online databases; and distributes publications about HIV/AIDS, STDs,
and TB. In addition, NPIN maintains resource centers in Baltimore and Silver Spring,
Maryland, and Atlanta, Georgia. NPIN also offers a Web site with up-to-date information
about HIV/AIDS, STDs, and TB and a resource service for businesses and labor unions
