Overview

After 10 years of assistance the main office of the USAID Slovakia Mission ceased operations on September 30, 2000, underscoring the confidence of the United States in the current Slovak government and the commitment of the Slovak people to reform.

Effective October 1, 2000, USAID has a program office in the American Embassy in Bratislava managing project activities in the areas of financial sector reform, rule of law/anti-corruption, civil society, economic development, and social reform. Through this post-presence program, USAID will contribute $1,500,000 for discrete activities.

The post-presence program is scheduled to phase out in December 2002.
