A New AIBS for the Age of Biology
Cover: The Genomic Palimpsest
Palimpsest Beinecke 262 shows a 15th-century liturgy (in Greek) superimposed on a 10th-century description of the life of an unidentified saint (faint vertical lines of text). In the article starting on p. 991, Charles F. Delwiche likens palimpsests, medieval documents with one or more superimposed texts, to genomes, which include information about an organism’s evolutionary history as well as about its current functioning.
