Statement by Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao on GPRA Scorecard Achievement

Credits President’s Management Agenda for Promoting Performance and Effective Management

“The Department of Labor has received top ranking on the 4^th annual performance report scorecard released today by George Mason University’s Mercatus Center. Through its dedication to raising the standards of reporting on the results of government programs, the Mercatus Center plays a valuable role in enhancing public accountability. We salute their contributions to the spirit of the Government Performance and Results Act.

“This honor recognizes our commitment under the leadership of the President’s Management Agenda to a results-driven Department of Labor. In any large and complex organization, people are key to accomplishing positive change and the department’s employees are the people most responsible for our top ranking. I would also like to pay special tribute to the department’s many program partners in government, business, academia, labor, and the non-profit sectors who share our goals and multiply many times over the impact of our efforts to better the lives of America’s workers in the 21^st Century. Together with our partners, we have made significant strides toward reaching our three strategic goals—A Prepared Workforce, A Secure Workforce, and Quality Workplaces—and we look forward to still greater successes in the future.”
