News Release OPA News Release: [04/30/2003] Statement by Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao on GPRA Scorecard AchievementCredits Presidents Management Agenda for Promoting Performance and Effective Management The Department of Labor has received top ranking on the 4th annual performance report scorecard released today by George Mason Universitys Mercatus Center. Through its dedication to raising the standards of reporting on the results of government programs, the Mercatus Center plays a valuable role in enhancing public accountability. We salute their contributions to the spirit of the Government Performance and Results Act. This honor recognizes our commitment under the leadership of the Presidents Management Agenda to a results-driven Department of Labor. In any large and complex organization, people are key to accomplishing positive change and the departments employees are the people most responsible for our top ranking. I would also like to pay special tribute to the departments many program partners in government, business, academia, labor, and the non-profit sectors who share our goals and multiply many times over the impact of our efforts to better the lives of Americas workers in the 21st Century.
