Location: Crop Diseases, Pests and Genetics

Project Number: 5302-22000-006-00
Project Type: Appropriated

Start Date: May 02, 2003
End Date: Apr 30, 2008

Objective:
1) Enhance management of citrus tristeza based on disease suppresion; 2) Determine diversity of CTV strains; 3) Develop improved methods to detect, identify, and distinguish CTV strains.

Approach:
1) Isolate, identify, and characterize CTV isolates in California with respect to pathogenicity, vector transmissibility, serology, and molecular structure and organization; 2) Adapt existing and develop new biological serological and molecular-based methods to detect, identify and distinguish CTV strains in California; 3) Determine factors that affect epidemiology of CTV in California.Replaces 5302-22000-004-00D 04/03.
