Mission: Pacific West Area includes the states of California, Hawaii, Idaho, Oregon,Washington, Nevada, Arizona and Alaska. The AD is responsible for the management: 1) Participation of the Deputy Administrator and staff in implementing, coordinating and evaluating overall research programs; 2) Leadership and operational accountability within the Area for all programs and related activities. This management responsibility includes operational planning, direction and evaluation of research designed to implement programs as recommended in the approved operational plan. The Area Director participates in the development of a complex national strategic plan for agricultural research in the Agency and assures the planis executed with a view to coordination, cooperation and integration of research with associated interests in land-grant organizations, with Federal agencies, other public entities, and institutions in the private and international sector.
